MediaSchool bake sale flyer that prints well in black and white
Design a flyer for "{{event_name}}", a school bake sale. Most copies will come off a black-and-white school copier, so it must work in pure black on white first.
Text, in this order of importance. Render the text exactly as written, spelled correctly, nothing else.
1. "{{event_name}}": the headline, the biggest
2. "{{event_date}}": second, about half the headline size
3. "{{venue}}": third
4. "{{offer}}": fourth, in a simple outlined box
Layout: 8.5 x 11 in portrait with 0.5 in margins and no bleed, since copiers don't print to the edge. Headline across the top, one illustration in the middle third, details in a clear block at the bottom, flush left.
Type: a friendly rounded sans in heavy weight for the headline and a plain sans for the details. Two families at most, nothing smaller than 14 pt, so it reads on a hallway noticeboard.
Color: black line art and solid black type on white. Leave room for one accent, such as cherry red #D7263D, to be added for a color version without changing the layout. No gray tones that turn muddy on a copier.
Imagery: one hand-drawn illustration of a plate of cookies, cupcakes or a pie, in a confident ink line with simple flat fills, as if a parent who draws well made it.
Print: 300 dpi. After the image, add one line reminding me that AI images are RGB, so I should convert to CMYK and check the colors before printing.
Avoid: clip-art cupcakes, gray gradients, photos that turn to mud on a copier, glossy 3D, sparkles, extra words, garbled letters, stock-looking smiling kids, more than one focal point.
