TechnicalCollectible prompt
Newsletter signup form with double opt-in
Add a newsletter signup for {{business_name}} to {{page_or_feature}} in my {{tech_stack}} site. Read the existing code first, use the email platform the project already connects to or ask me which one, and show me a short plan before changing files.
The form:
- An email field with a visible label, not just placeholder text, and an optional first name
- One line saying what people will get and how often, in our voice
- A plain consent line linking to the privacy policy, with no pre-checked boxes
- Success, error and already-subscribed messages shown in place without a reload, and announced to screen readers
Behind it:
- Double opt-in: the platform sends a confirmation email, and only confirmed people count as subscribers
- Signups go through a server route that holds the API key, which never reaches the browser
- Tag each subscriber with the page they signed up on, and store consent time and source if the platform doesn't
- A hidden spam trap and a rate limit per visitor
No pop-ups for now. If I add one later, it should wait at least 30 seconds, close easily, and never cover the whole screen on phones.
Meet WCAG 2.2 AA. When you're done, list the files changed, how to test the full signup and confirmation flow, and anything you assumed.
